Make no mistake–this is originally a Japanese book by a Japanese author and a Japanese illustrator.  However, they borrowed a Russian folktale, so it’s really a Russian story.

The name in Japanese is “Ookina Kabu”  “The Gigantic Turnip”

I do like this book. It’s great for ESL.  As a sidenote, it’s interesting to see the depiction of western people by Japanese artists.  Notice their long red noses!  That’s typical of caucasians when drawn by Japanese artists.  The long very red nose.  (Is that what we look like to them?)

This book can be found here in Japanese.

It can be found here in English.  For $168.98, it can be yours!!!!!
