It’s been snowing a lot here in Tohoku!  December was unseasonably mild, but I just knew the snow would eventually come.    And yes, it’s here.  Last week, they even had snow as far south as Okinawa.

Here is a Protestant church near my house.

This street is very much downtown.

That’s the train station, however, a large section of it is restaurants and shopping.

So while you are looking at those snowy day photos, I will use this opportunity to give a shout out to a new book about 3/11.  It’s a YA book written in verse about the tsunami.  And the author is none other than Mommy in Japan/Wife to a Japanese Dude:   Leza Lowitz!

When it starts off, you really feel like you are at the scene, rushing away, and getting caught up in the tsunami.  It’s a teenage boy’s story.  His mom is Japanese and his dad American.  What’s going to happen?  Read the book and find out!
