Well, I got my card and I’m taking jlpt N2 on December 7th. I’m pretty excited. I’ve been studying a lot and getting better and better. Although I still get very frustrated because it seems I forget as much as I remember. Japanese is a really hard language with lots of new vocabulary.
The above link explains the changes to the jlpt that occurred a few years ago. I know I personally was confused about those changes and it took me a while to figure it all out.
Good job! I’m really really poor in learning Japanese. I started menopause when we moved here and trying to memorize a new language when your head is foggy from hormone imbalance is … hard. I know if I put more time in to it I could make progress but I’m so busy with so many chores and things that when I finally have time to study- I’m pooped!
I wish I could find something that would help me just sit down and do it. My best study time is in the morning but unfortunately that’s also laundry/ bento making/ breakfast making time. I can’t do any of those things at any other time. By the time those chores are finished it’s getting late and I’ve got other chores / shopping etc to do. Gah- when do you find the time to study?
That’s too bad you are so busy! I take two free Japanese lessons a week and that forces me to study. Plus I sneak in time– for example I study during my sons aikido lesson and on the train. Also, I used to be a voracious reader. I’ve stopped that and instead studying. I find living in Japan easier if I know more Japanese to help me out. You should check if your community offers free lessons–I’ve met many nice people through the lessons.
