I plan to browse through tofugu’s list of Japanese resources.  http://www.tofugu.com/2010/04/06/tofugu-100-best-japanese-learning-resources/  It is a few years old, but there is still good stuff there.

I have on my iPad an app called “midori”.  I got it so I can write the kanji and it will give me the kanji.  There is a similar app called “Japanese”. I don’t know which is better.  When I chose midori over Japanese, I had my reasons, but don’t remember what they are.

I have a good  Japanese who doesn’t know English well.  She planned to visit America, and I worried about her.  However she used a translating app.  She would write the Japanese and her iPhone translated to English.  She showed this to people and got around.  Clever!
