I ordered the book “Ruby Bridges Goes to School.” http://www.amazon.co.jp/Ruby-Bridges-Goes-School-Scholastic/dp/0545108551/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395272136&sr=8-1&keywords=ruby+bridges+goes+to+school It’s a great little book for the money, with photos of whites only restaurants and colored restaurants and so on.

I probably should have ordered the book “Through my Eyes” instead. It’s geared to an older audience. However, it is much more expensive. http://www.amazon.co.jp/Through-My-Eyes-Ruby-Bridges/dp/0590189239/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1395272054&sr=8-14&keywords=through+my+eyes

I think it is important for my son to learn about America’s history, especially racism in the United States. Living in Japan, he doesn’t get that from school, so the responsibility falls on me and my husband to teach him.
