Yesterday I suggested a game to my son. I say a word and he says the first thing that pops into his head. Simple game that I think everybody knows.
So we proceeded like this:
CAT——kitty who likes to dance
and so on until I said
ENGLISH and he said————-boring
He said boring!
So instantly I said, “WHAT?” “WHAT DO YOU MEAN?” “WHY DO YOU THINK ENGLISH IS BORING?”
He did not really have much of an answer. I think he likes to speak English, it is just that he hates doing his daily writing and reading. Hates it, man. He does it, but he hates it.
He also hates his regular school work in Japanese. So I am not letting him off the hook with the English.
I really wish I had kept my cool instead of getting so excited at his answer. That was dumb of me. Really dumb. I should have calmly continued the game, then later calmly asked what he meant.
I asked him if I could post this on the blog, and he said that it was no problem. I wanted to get his permission since it is a little personal.
