While in Tokyo in January, we bought the book “Star Wars: Jedi Academy” at the bookstore in Ueno Station. It is in English and partly comics and partly prose. It is from the viewpoint of Roan, who attends, of course, a Jedi Academy.

This book was a big hit with my son. He is looking forward to the sequel. I thought it was a good book, but not as funny as Captain Underpants or Diary of a Wimpy Kid. (But on the other hand, not as irreverant as those two books.)

It was actually cheaper at the Ueno bookstore than from Amazon because the paperback version was available at the bookstore. (Amazon has a hardback and a kindle version, no paperback)

Probably the best thing about the book (for me) was a note at the end encouraging kids to make their own comics. Awesome! My son makes his own comics in his free time, and it is wonderful to see this being encouraged.
